Portfolio Development Across All Sessions

All Students, in any session, will be working with an eye towards their portfolio.  Whether they have one, or need one, we will strive to help build a portfolio for future studies and work.  A portfolio that is creative, individually tailored, and awesome, will help to focus student effort and to drive learning and future study and work.  All designers have a portfolio... how is yours?

Sessions are divided roughly into to focus areas.  The first and third session are technique and skill driven, but by no means are limited.  The idea is to drive creativity through hands-on exploration of the media.

Sketching & Stitching

Weeks 1 & 3
A perfect class for the budding fashion designer. In sketching, students learn the conventions of fashion sketching. Templates are provided to help students get started, then they create their own poses, and experiment with technique and style. In stitching, students learn to read a commercial pattern, layout and cut fabric properly, use commercial sewing machines, and finish seams. They also learn many hand-sewing techniques.

Each student creates projects to add to their portfolios and fantastic creations to take home.

Project Centenary

Weeks 2
Feel the drama build as you find yourself in your own reality fashion week at Project Centenary. Based on the hit series Project Runway, students take on challenges that test their creativity, design skills and endurance.

This session is about completing work and showing it.  It is about working on and perfecting individual skills while working as a group toward a presentation and show.  It is fun and exciting and intense.  Just like our students!

So, designers, get ready to bring it, all or nothing and make it work.

We recommend (but do not require) students take one week of each focus, to continue to build their skills.
