So... you want to be a teacher? Now what?!

What do teachers in the 21st Century need to know and understand about the classroom, integrated curriculum and the changing face of education? This class is a one week immersion in education and teaching that allows students to explore their interests in the teaching profession.

Students in this course discover their own learning styles as they reflect on their desire to teach. Through their experience, they apply critical thinking to address global issues while creating an innovative curriculum.

We touch on different modes of learning, different styles of teaching, what constitutes a curriculum, and progressive steps in our current education system. We include a brief survey of important historic developments and current trends, and we discuss the strongest factors for engaging students at different grade levels and stages of learning.
