Academic Programs

Centenary Summer allows rising 8th – 12th grade students the opportunity to immerse themselves in one course of study for a full week. In many of our academic tracks, we offer a different area of focus each week; these are detailed on the following pages. Students may sign up for one or more sessions. For example, a student may attend two weeks of Creative Writing – starting with the Mechanics of Writing and moving on to Tell Me a Story. Or, a student may take one session of Fine Arts and then draw these new skills into his or her Fashion Design experience the next session.

Each curriculum is designed around student involvement. Teachers incorporate students’ needs and interests into the lessons so that each class becomes a unique exploration. All courses are project-based; in addition to the topic of study, students also practice critical skills such as collaboration, critique, project-planning and presentation.
