Centenary Students Participate in Clothing Drive for Social Responsibility in Business Class

Hackettstown, N.J.  – Centenary students are organizing a clothing drive for the Salvation Army between now and March 20, 2013 and are interested in gently used clothing donations.  This initiative is part of an assignment for the Social Responsibility in Business course that is taught by Heather Pelletier, Assistant Professor of Business at Centenary College.

Drop-off locations are at Warren County Library Northeast Branch and Taylor Memorial Library at Centenary College.

“This initiative is more about helping people than doing the work to get a good grade,” says Centenary student Jason Bernier.  “I have done a lot of volunteer work in the past, so being involved in this campaign is something that feels natural to me.  Clothing is always needed, so the group determined that assisting the Salvation Army would be a good choice.”

The Social Responsibility in Business course explores issues including workplace ethics, the natural environment, government regulation, information technology, diversity, corporate governance, philanthropy and volunteerism to better understand the relationship between business and society.  This course explores organizational best practices to improve social responsibility.

“This is a project that I am proud to be involved in,” says Centenary student Stephanie Szela.  “I have a passion for this work and hope that members of the community will aid in the collection process.”
