Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation Grants $2,500 to Centenary Enactus Chapter

Hackettstown, N.J.– Enterprise Rent-A-Car has awarded a $2,500 grant to Centenary College’s Enactus chapter (formerly known as SIFE) for two of their projects.

Enactus is an international nonprofit organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.  Guided by academic advisors and business experts, the student leaders of Enactus create and implement community empowerment projects around the globe.  The experience not only transforms lives, it helps students develop the kind of talent and perspective that are essential to leadership in an ever-more complicated and challenging world.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation provided half of the funds to the Guapi Hope Leaf Project.  The project helps artisans in Guapi, Colombia, create a sustainable and profitable business, which will combat the widespread poverty in that country.  The other half was provided to the Next Step project, focusing on mentoring youth in Newark about academic options after high school.

“I was very impressed with the good work that Centenary’s Enactus Chapter has done,” says Jennifer Santiago, Talent Acquisition Manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car.  “This is an organization that gives back to the community and that is one of the founding values of Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation.  The funds that were awarded to these two projects should help offset some of the costs, and will help make it a little easier for the Centenary Enactus chapter to continue to flourish. The work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and creativity the Centenary ENACTUS students continuously display is quite impressive as well. This is exactly what great companies like Enterprise look for to help carry out missions of giving back to our community as well."

ABOUT ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR FOUNDATION
Enterprise has a long-standing tradition of helping local communities, the United Way and a wide variety of charitable organizations, causes and events in which our employees are involved. That tradition grows stronger every year and now flourishes globally.
In 1982, company founder Jack C. Taylor created the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation. This charitable arm of Enterprise was established to allow us to give back to local communities. Building off of suggestions and requests from their employees, the foundation has given more than $100 million to numerous not-for-profit organizations in the local communities where business is conducted.
Enterprise also has a comprehensive Community Relations initiative in place. This initiative establishes and maintains both national and local partnerships with leading civic, charitable, minority and women’s organizations. It also makes policy decisions on issues of social responsibility that affect our entire company. Enterprise’s overriding goal is to continually ensure that it is an inclusive and welcoming organization for all people as employees, customers, and valued suppliers.

Founded in 1867 by the Newark Conference of the United Methodist Church, Centenary College’s academic program integrates a solid liberal arts foundation with a strong career orientation. This mix is designed to provide an educational experience that prepares students to succeed in the increasingly global and interdependent world.

Centenary College’s main campus is located in Hackettstown, N.J., with its equestrian facility in Washington Township (Morris County).  The Centenary College School of Professional Studies offers degree programs in three locations: Hackettstown, Parsippany and Edison, and at corporate sites throughout New Jersey.  The School of International Programs recruits international students for study at Centenary and Centenary students for study abroad.
