11/16/2012, 12:30 PM
The Hackettstown BID and Centenary College are teaming up to bring Hackettstown a Holiday event to remember! On Friday, November 30th, the Hackettstown BID and Centenary College join forces to create Hackettstown's, "Hometown Holiday" celebration.
Kicking off at the Main gates of Centenary College at 400 Jefferson street at 5:00 pm with Carriage rides and in the Seay Administration Building you'll find ‘Santas Workshop' for the youngsters with crafts and snack. All are welcome to the Grand Parlor for the lighting of the elegent tree that graces the room.
After the ‘Grand Illumination' of the campus, everyone is welcome to make their way downtown to Main Street and celebrate Santa's arrival by horse-drawn sleigh!
The Colonial Musketeers, the Hackettstown Fire Department, Coloring Contest Winners and the Hackettstown High School Cheerleaders as Santa's Elves will escort Santa along Main Street to the Gazebo on the corner of Main and Moore Streets.
Hackettstown's Mayor Ms. Maria DiGiovanni will greet him there and together they will flip the ceremonial switch illuminating the lights of our holiday tree.
After the lighting of the tree, you will find performances around town by our local choirs and bands, as well as the wildly popular Holiday Shopping Bazaar and Horse-drawn carriage rides. In addition Santa will be taking visitors at the Moore Street Firehouse for free photos, courtesy of Heart and Sohl Photography.
The Holiday Shopping Bazaar features many local merchants throughout the BID, crafters from the area and our local restaurants. The bazaar will be held in the adjoining parking lot to the Moore Street Fire House and provide a unique shopping opportunity. In addition our town shops will have extended hours and evening special for everyone to take advantage of.
The horse-drawn carriage rides, which quickly became a favorite, will begin and end in the Moore street parking lot and loop from there up Church Street to the gates of Centenary College and return back down Moore Street. This route will create a wonderful old time holiday feeling by traveling through some the finest historic architecture found in Hackettstown.
After a nice carriage ride, you may want to learn about the History of Hackettstown with a visit to the Historical Society museum open that evening from 6 - 9 PM. The museum will be decked out for Christmas and there will be special exhibits, presentations and refreshments will be served.
Musical performances along Main Street during the evening are scheduled throughout town, the Trinity Church "Little Angels Choir", Trinity Methodist Churches Bell Choir, St. James's Bell Choir, Hackettstown High School Choir and The Hackettstown Community Band, the Senior Colonial Musketeers.
When you're done shopping you can visit the BID office with your receipt from a purchase from one of the participating businesses and HRMC volunteers will gladly giftwrap your items for you.
This Hometown Holiday Celebration is sponsored through the generosity of Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Centenary College, Johnson Dodge, WRNJ Radio and the Hackettstown Business Improvement District. Through the hard work of countless volunteers and business partners, our town is able to enjoy this wonderful festivity to usher in the Holiday Season.
