If you like the idea of learning and gaining real world experience while you go to college, then Centenary College could be the right college for you.

Academics are only part of the Centenary Experience. At Centenary, you will also learn and grow in many other amazing ways. Students often tell us a Centenary education "gets you out there."

A Centenary education means small classes where you'll work collaboratively and become engaged in relevant coursework. We also offer many opportunities to connect you with professionals in your field. These are the hallmarks of a Centenary education.

Wherever your passions lie, the Centenary College faculty and staff are dedicated to making your college experience as fulfilling and rewarding as possible. It all adds up to a successful college education that prepares you for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Student-Centered Learning

The total growth of each individual is taken into account in the Centenary Experience. We try to match our teaching styles with your learning style.

We do this in many ways. First, through our outstanding faculty who take a personal interest in your academic success. Second, with computer technologies and learning systems that complement your academic pursuits. Third, with a wide range of academic services to help you achieve your goals.

The college also has a long standing commitment to community service and each student is expected to incorporate community service experiences into their college learning. Internships and work-study expand the educational environment as do the opportunities for study abroad.

Our Undergraduate Curriculum

The goal of Centenary College is to provide an educational program that balances liberal arts study with their chosen career program. The College's curriculum leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, or the Bachelor of Science degree is organized into three parts:

  • The College's Core Requirements - These include a specific number of courses from the liberal arts disciplines, which guarantees a minimal uniformity of study without sacrificing the individual educational interests of the student.
  • The Major - Majors are designed to give the student mastery of a single field, and to introduce that student to a field of possible professional involvement. A student usually selects a major during his or her freshman or sophomore year. The student also has the option of selecting a minor or a special concentration to go along with the major field of study.
  • Course Electives - To round out the curriculum, electives are divided between liberal arts studies and free electives chosen by the student in consultation with his or her advisor.
