Part-time Students at Centenary College

A Commitment to Part-time Students

The attention we provide to our Part-time students is exceptional. Your Centenary Part-time counselor will guide you through the admissions process and also serve as your interim Academic Advisor.

You will be personally guided from pre-application to the selection and start of your classes. Your counselor will try to work around your availability because many students have responsibilities that go beyond their studies.

Part-time students may register for up to 11 credits per semester. Classes are available during the day and evening. Centenary College also offers courses during our Summer Sessions to complement our Fall and Spring Semesters.

A minimum of 128 credits are required to earn a Bachelor degree.  Students from community colleges and/or proprietary schools are allowed to transfer a maximum of 72 credits with a C- or better.  A maximum of 96 credits from a four-year or combination of two and four-year institutions may be transferred.

Centenary College offers rolling admissions for Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters. Completing the admissions process at least one semester in advance before coming to Centenary will give you priority in registering for classes.

Part Time Admissions Process

Matriculated students planning to earn a degree from Centenary College (including those seeking re-admittance after a one-year absence) must supply:

  • A completed Admissions application.
  • A $30 non-refundable application fee or fee waiver.
  • Proof of High School graduation or the equivalent.
  • SAT scores and complete high school transcripts are not required if you have earned more than 24 semester hours at your prior college(s).  If you are over 24 years of age, you do not need an SAT score to apply.
  • Official transcripts from ALL colleges attended (mailed from the college or university directly to our Admissions Office).
  • A personal essay.
  • Immunization records.*
  • Letters of recommendation are not required, but will strengthen your application and enable the Admissions Committee to make a better determination of the College's ability to meet your academic needs.

Non-matriculated or visiting students are allowed to attend a maximum of 8 credits at Centenary College.  For acceptance they must supply:

  • Proof of high school graduation or the equivalent. 

*Centenary College is mandated by the State of New Jersey to have immunization records on ALL of our students, both full time and part time. 

Completing Your Application

Once your file is complete, the Admissions Committee will review it and make a decision regarding admission. Students accepted for admission are notified and then may register for classes.

At the point when your course work is completed at the transferring institution and a final transcript is received by Centenary College, our Audit Evaluator will conduct an official evaluation of your credits. These will be posted to your Centenary College transcript.

Accepted students have up to one year to enroll. After that time, students must reapply.
