Empty Bowl Dinner
The Empty Bowl Dinner is an annual, community-wide collaboration to fight hunger and raise awareness about homelessness. From local businesses to girlscout troops and students in the area, hundreds of people pitch in to make this project happen.
The dinner consists of artisan breads and hearty homemade soups served in ceramic bowls handpainted by local students. The communal/soupkitchen style setting in which guests are served is both symbolic of the benefactors of the project as well as helpful in creating an interpersonal connection between guests.
Guests of the dinner are encouraged to take the hand painted bowl they ate out of home with them as a memento of the empty bowl their contribution will help to fill.
Through generous donations of $15.00 & a non-perishable food item The Trinity Church Pantry and Midnight Run at Centenary College are able to continue their vital service to the homeless and food-insecure people of the region.
