Centenary College's Community Plunge
Each semester Centenary College conducts a day-long community service project for all incoming students called Community Plunge! The event offers you, the students, a unique opportunity to focus on a particular area of the community by providing you with the choice of several different locations to volunteer at for the day.
At Orientation you will be provided with a list of volunteer sites to choose from. On the morning of Community Plunge you and your peers will meet to make bagged lunches and break off into groups. You will be provided with transportation to an from the job site as well as any tools you will need for your work. What better way to get to know your community, your peers, and the value of community service?
Community Plunge 2012: Monday, August 27th!
This year's plunge is scheduled for Monday, August 27th. You can sign up for your choice of 18 different volunteer sites at Sign Up Genius. Sign Up is simple, just provide your full name and the email you check the most then pick a site based on the descriptions provided.
Feel free to coordinate with friends or roomates on a site for the day, it's supposed to be fun!
Schedule For Community Plunge: Monday, August 27th!
8:00-8:45 AM: Breakfast & Prep in The Cafeteria- Come get a good meal, make your lunch for the day, get your t-shirt and join up with the rest of your Plunge Team before you head out for the day.
9:00 AM: Depart for Plunge Sites- We’re heading out at 9:00 Sharp! Get to your buses, your vans, or your walking groups to head out for the day!
9:30 AM-3:30 Service Projects on Site- Work with your team to make things happen! You’re work makes a huge difference in our community.
4:00-4:30 Return to Centenary- It’s been a long day; now take some time for you: relax, unwind, and wash up before the Post Plunge Party!
8:30 PM-11:00 PM Post Plunge Party- Celebrate with everyone else that took the plunge! Student Activities is sponsoring a fun night for everyone who worked today!
Important Reminders!
- Community Plunge is a mandatory event for all new incoming students.
- Sneakers or work boots are required at all sites.
- Please be sure to wear appropriate clothes for all sites and weather.
- Be on time! We will be leaving the Lackland Center for all sites at 9:00 AM Sharp!
- You MUST be signed up by dinner on Sunday, August 26th
- If you haven’t signed up via the website you will be able to do so in person this weekend.
- Sign-ups will be held in person August 25th and 26th just outside of the Cafeteria in the Lackland Building.
