Graduate Studies - FAQs

1. What degree programs do you offer?
We offer Masters Degrees in Education, Business, Counseling, English and the Social Sciences.

2. If I have a Masters Degree, but would like to obtain a certificate, can I complete a certificate program?
Yes, we offer Certificate programs in Supervisor Licensure and Teacher of Students with Disabilities.

3. What are your admissions requirements?
Admissions requirements include a Bachelors Degree, original transcripts and undergraduate GPA that meets the requirement for your program of choice. Some programs require a personal statement or references. Please check each program for specific requirements.

4. What if my undergraduate GPA is less than the required GPA for the program I am interested in?
Centenary will still consider you for Graduate School. We encourage you to apply and will consider each applicant on an individual case by case basis. Please contact the Graduate Office at (toll free) 877-236-4723 ext. 2494 or 2071 or graduate@centenarycollege.edu.

5. Are there graduate courses offered at night?
Yes. Because of the highly demanding schedule that adult students have our Masters programs are offered at night so as to not conflict with normal working hours.

6. Do you offer online programs?
We offer several online degrees and more are always in development.

7. Will you offer additional programs online?
Yes, we will be developing several master degree programs online. Please check back to the website often for updates or contact the Graduate Office at (toll free) 877-236-4723 at ext. 2494 or 2071. You can also email graduate@centenarycollege.edu for more information.

8. I would like to complete my degree as soon as possible, how can I finish sooner?
Centenary is developing both accelerated and Weekend Fast Track programs that will enable you to complete your master’s degree in a shorter length of time. Check back often for updates as to when those programs will be beginning.

9. Do you offer summer courses for graduate students?
Yes, some courses are offered but the schedule is not released until April of the Spring semester of each year.

10. How can I obtain a listing of courses offered each semester?
Courses are listed here on our website or you can contact the Registrar's Office at (toll free) 877-236-4723 or ext. 2214.

11. What if I can’t make it to the Graduate Office before it closes?
Our staff is extremely flexible and is willing to work with you and your needs. Please contact them at graduate@centenarycollege.edu or (toll free) 877-236-4723 at ext. 2494 or 2071.

12. When are books available?
Books are usually available about a week before classes begin. Stop by the bookstore to pick them up. You can also order them online at www.efollet.com. Just enter New Jersey and follow the prompts to order your books.

13. Is there financial aid for the graduate students?
Yes there is. You can contact the financial aid department for help with those issues at 908-852-1400 ext. 2350.

14. How many credits must I take as a graduate student to have financial aid?
You must have at least 6 credits each semester. This also pertains to the summer sessions. Summer sessions one and two are combined and considered a semester. This means that you may take 3 credits in the first session and 3 in the second and still receive financial aid.

15. What is the maximum number of credits that graduate students can take?
You are allowed a maximum number of 12 credits per semester. This is due to the fact that courses are only in the evenings Monday thru Thursday.

16. What do I need to do if I currently hold a non-teaching bachelors and I want to become a teacher?
