Tieka Harris is an Honors and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She also received a Master of Education at Rutgers University Graduate School of Education, with an emphasis on Secondary English/Language Arts. Prior to studying counseling at The Johns Hopkins University School of Education, Tieka taught English/Language Arts at a Central New Jersey high school for seven years, where she was actively involved in writing curricula, advising clubs, coordinating remediation programs, and mentoring colleagues.
Tieka’s background speaks to a wealth of experience mentoring, tutoring, teaching, and advising in secondary and post-secondary education, and non-profit settings. Prior to coming to Centenary, Tieka conducted research in drop-out prevention and the importance of out of school time in Baltimore, Maryland. Tieka’s passion for education and helping students optimize their educational experience is evident in her past work, and in her present and future goals at Centenary College.
