International Students Organization

The student-run International Students Organization (ISO) provides support to all International Students in the form of friendship, understanding and social support. The organization schedules trips and events, and also acts as advocates for the International Students on campus.

Our International Culture Exchange, better known as ICE, is a program in which American students have the chance to experience different cultures in authentic settings.

The International Cultural Exchange Program arranges trips and events in which International and American students come together to learn about their cultural differences and similarities. These trips often include but are not limited to the countries of our students’ nationalities.

International students from Centenary act as leaders and tour guides sharing their cultures by guiding their American counterparts in the exploration of the sights, sounds, foods and shopping in such neighborhoods as Chinatown, Korean town, and various other cultural communities within the New York metropolitan area. Through their efforts, the groups experience the target culture in a unique atmosphere.

Two days before each trip, an "orientation" meeting is held to acquaint participants with common practices, expressions, and foods of the target culture.

Some of the highlights of the trips are the wonderful meals shared in authentic ethnic restaurants, as well as having opportunities to learn new cultural customs from international students.

ICE is committed to promoting cultural understanding and acceptance among the diverse population of Centenary College and its surrounding community.
