While high scholarship is the primary requisite for eligibility, good character and reputation are also important considerations. Membership is restricted to juniors and seniors. Gamma Zeta ChapterThe Gamma Zeta Chapter at Centenary College is an active group in which members undertake projects of service to the campus and the community. Among the many events that the members participate in are clothing drives for the Midnight Run, mentoring new education students, a Big Brother/Sister picnic and a changing display of student learning centers. Some of the speakers brought to the Centenary Community have been from DYFS, NEA and Special Education. Regular meetings keep the members in touch with the current issues of education while instilling a sense of professional responsibility. Kappa Delta Epsilon enhances teaching as a profession and as a way of living. Kappa Delta EpsilonKappa Delta Epsilon is an honorary professional Education fraternity, the purpose of which is to promote the cause of education by fostering a spirit of fellowship, high standards of scholastic attainment and professional ideals among its members. Kappa Mu EpsilonKappa Mu Epsilon is a specialized honor society in Mathematics. It was founded in 1931 to promote the interest of mathematics among undergraduate students. Its chapters are located in colleges and universities of recognized standing which offer a strong mathematics major. We seek to bring students, teachers and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways. Phi Theta KappaThe Delta Chi Chapter of this two-year national honor society recognizes high academic achievement, promotes scholarship, develops character and cultivates fellowship among Centenary College students. Sigma Tau DeltaThe central purpose of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honors, is to confer the distinction upon outstanding students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate and professional studies. Sigma Tau Delta also recognizes the accomplishments of professional writers who have contributed to the fields of language and literature. The Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, was founded at Centenary College in January of 2001. Our mission is to introduce new programs to the Centenary College community and to encourage interest in the field of English.
