Moving In Day at Centenary College.

Refer to the Orientation Schedule for your arrival time!

Students living on the third floor of residence halls will be moved first starting promptly at 10:00 am.

This is a much more efficient process if you bring another person to drive your car while you are completing Orientation tasks.

1. Get to Grand Avenue, Hackettstown. (Click here for Directions and Maps.)

2. Turn into Founders Parking Lot Orientation Check-in.

3. Upon turning into Founders Parking Lot, you will be greeted by an Orientation Staff member wearing a blue polo shirt.

Students:

1. The driver will be directed to enter one of the clearly marked lines.

2. The Orientation Staff Member will ask the student to leave the vehicle and go to the Orientation Tent. (The driver stays with their car.)

At the Orientation Tent:

  • You will receive your Information Folder which will provide important information, including the time you are scheduled to attend Laptop orientation on Sunday.

  • If you have not received your meningitis vaccine, you will be directed to the location to have this done before moving into your residence. (Cost $95, payable by cash or check.)

3. You will then be directed to your residence hall to meet your driver and family.

  • You will sign your Housing Contract.
  • You will sign your Room Condition Inventory form.
  • You will receive your Room key.

Drivers and Families:

1. Please stay in your vehicle while in the Orientation Check-in Lot.

2. Once you have entered the appropriate line, you will move up the lane until you reach the dispatch point where you will be directed to your student's residence hall.

3. You will be given an unloading space number at the dispatch point. Please park in front of that number.

4. Once you arrive, you will be greeted by faculty, staff, and student 'helpers' (with a golf cart!) who will help you unload your vehicle. The helpers will help your family take the belongings to the front of the residence hall.

PLEASE make sure that all of your student's belongings are marked with the student's name AND room number!

5. Immediately after your vehicle is unloaded, please vacate the unloading spot and proceed to the Orientation Parking Lot. You will be directed to this lot. There will be a shuttle from the Orientation Parking Lot for those who may have difficulty walking to the front of campus.

6. Members of the family, other than the driver, should assist the student and the "helpers" moving the student's belongings to the room. Sneakers or tennis shoes are recommended as there are no elevators in the residence halls.

7. All guests are invited to the refreshment tents at any time during the day.

8. Set up your new room! Keep the spirit light, and you'll have fun as you embark on your first day at Centenary College!
