Spring Semester Orientation: Sunday, January 15, 2012.

Orientation Schedule:
9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Check-In for Resident Students.
Location: David and Carol Lackland Center.
Check in and grab your new room keys. New students will then be escorted toward parking and to their room for move in.
11:00am – 12:00 p.m.
Check-In for Commuter and Transfer Students.
Location: David and Carol Lackland Center.
Check in and take advantage of a formal tour or use this time to speak with returning students and ask them any questions you might have.
12:00 p.m.
Welcome Session.
Location: Sitnik Theater, David and Carol Lackland Center.
12:20 p.m.
Orientation Activities and Lunch.
Location: Campus Wide.
New students will be lead around campus by a returning student host. At this time photo ID cards will be issued and there will be an introduction to important campus resources. All new students are invited to have lunch and try their luck at winning a new Kindle Fire. Lunch takes place in the Cafeteria located in the David and Carol Lackland Center.
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Laptop Distribution.
Location: Whitney Chapel, Seay Administration Building.
Students will receive their laptops, class schedules and a tutorial on using the campus information portal, my.Centenary.
8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
New Student Party.
Location: The S.A.C - Student Activity Center, Seay Administration Building.
Get to know other students that are new to campus. Games and refreshments or just come and hang out! This event is optional but strongly encouraged, who doesn’t want free food?!
*The Bookstore and the Financial Aid Office will be open from 10:00am to 3:00pm
*The Bursar’s Office will NOT be open on Sunday, January 15, 2012 – for business related inquiries please call the Bursar’s Office at (908) 852-1400 x2365 M-F 8:30am – 4:30pm

Whether you want to spend the day helping to make your new community a little more beautiful or you want to lend a hand at a local food bank, we have something for you. Don't miss your opportunity to sign up during Orientation.

Residence Life Projects.
Location: Various Locations Throughout Our Community.
Your chance to join the Centenary community in experiencing this National Initiative through meaningful activities throughout the area.
2:00 Smith Hall Residents:
“One love might make the difference (One Love)
Might take the walls and tear them down
One light might keep on shining (One Love)
If we take one love and we spread it around” (Hootie and the Blowfish)
Residents gather and create lanterns and search for understanding in a hall community event.
3:00 Bennett-Smith Hall Residents: Trivia of Truth
So, you think you know your history…
4:00 Reeves Hall Residents: Building Dreams - Come join other Reeves Hall residents in building Diversity through Trivia, Competition, and Chasing your Dreams!
5:00 Washbaugh and Anderson Halls Residents: Dream On! – Residents will have the opportunity to experience part of Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream for America, and identify their own personal dreams with the building community. Come have lots of fun and get to know your fellow Centenarians!
7:00 Van Winkle and Lotte Halls Residents: “I have a Dream” Program
Residents come and share your dreams without reproach and create a communal mural, The Dream Wall.
8:00 Vigil for Change
In a conclusion of the day’s events the College Community will gather in front of Seay Building to honor Dr. Martin Luther King and commit to creating a community of diversity, peace, and tolerance.

Each year, Centenary College conducts a day-long community service experience for all incoming students called
The Community Plunge.
Community Plunge allows you, the student, to decide how you want give back to the community for the day. At Orientation you will be provided a list of volunteer sites to choose from, meals, and transportation to volunteer sites where you and your new classmates will work together to give back! What better way to get to know your community, your peers, and the value of community service?
Locations include Warren Haven Nursing Home, the Post House, Hillside Food Bank, Hackettstown Business Improvement District and Trinity United Methodist Church
