HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (April 30, 2011) – The fourth-seeded Centenary women's lacrosse team fell to the fifth-seeded Neumann Knights by a score of 13-10 in the first round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs on Saturday afternoon at Cyclone Field.

Junior Danielle Bay (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) scored her only goal on the day just over one minute into the game to give Centenary an early lead. However, Neumann would score the next three including goals from Alexandra Bohen and Erica Crabtree, who each had a team-high four goals on the afternoon. The Knights gained the lead midway through the first half and were determined not to relinquish it as first half goals by Cyclone sophomores Nicole Judd (Saint Louis, Mo./Lafayette Senior) and Allie Swartz (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) were quickly answered by Neumann goals. The Knights held a 7-4 lead into halftime.

Junior Meredith Bruce (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) scored the first of her two goals on the game just 30 seconds into the second half and Swartz followed that up with another goal just a minute later and the Cyclones trimmed the Neumann lead to one early in the second half. Neumann would answer again, this time with five consecutive goals to provide some separation. The hardened Centenary squad fought valiantly in the game's final minutes, scoring four of the last five goals in the game and trimming the Neumann lead to three with two minutes to play. However, the Cyclones were not be able to get any closer than the three goal margin and Neumann advanced.

Centenary had five different players score on the afternoon, but were led by sophomore Allie Swartz's four goals. Bruce and Judd each registered a pair of goals, while Bay and sophomore Alysia Pinkerton (Frenchtown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) each recorded one goal.

The Cyclones dominated the stat sheet as they outshot Neumann (36-25), had more groundballs (31-29) and had fewer turnovers (12-17). Sophomore Ako Nakabun (Tokyo, Japan/Koyamadai Metropolitan) tallied seven saves in the loss, while victorious Neumann goalkeeper Sam Kotowski registered 17 saves.
