As President of Centenary College, I am pleased to open a dialogue with the Centenary community regarding the strategic direction of the College. As you may know, our current Strategic Plan runs through 2012, and we have begun the process of crafting the one that will take us from 2011 through 2016. This effort began in the fall of 2010, and should conclude by the fall of this year.

The College leadership values the input of its core constituencies, and as a result is seeking to both educate and be educated by all those with a stake in the future of Centenary. This is a critical time for us – today’s shrinking government support and rising costs make a College education more elusive for many families, and seismic changes in the educational world demand that we take a close look at our mission, programs and services to ensure we meet society’s needs.

Centenary College has a rich history that dates back more than 140 years. It continues to be a place that reflects its founding principles of inclusion and educational equity, and today serves both traditional and nontraditional students from all walks of life.

This is the time for us to focus on our core mission, and ensure a bright future for Centenary College and the people it serves, on campus and in the community.
