Senior Jazmine Farrell totaled four points against PBU.

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (September 18, 2010) – Centenary women’s soccer senior Jazmine Farrell (Newton, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) totaled four points on one goal and two assists to lead the Lady Cyclones to an 8-0 win over Philadelphia Biblical, Saturday in Hackettstown, N.J. In the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener for both teams, the Cyclones (3-5, 1-0 CSAC) ended a five-game losing streak while scoring the most goals against PBU (1-5, 0-1 CSAC) since the Crimson Eagles gave up nine to NJCU on Sept. 12, 2009.

CC played well offensively and defensively, as eight Cyclones tallied at least a point while the team limited Philadelphia Biblical to just three shots. Senior Bianca Santulli (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and junior Caitlin Veverka (Bayonne, N.J./Holy Family Academy) tallied two goals apiece and junior Brittany Overland (Andover, N.J./Newton) and Jen Dexter (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) recorded two assists apiece.

Senior Sam Vanni (Haskell, N.J./Lakeland), junior Tatiana Kingston (Mountainside, N.J./Governor Livingston) and sophomore Arielle Hamilton (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mt. East) each scored one goal. Senior goalkeeper Ashley Denti (Sergentsville, N.J./Hunterdon Central) recorded two saves to post her second shutout of the season.

Santulli opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the third minute of the game. The Cyclones’ next goal did not come until 30 minutes later, when Farrell streaked up the left side and crossed the ball into the box for a wide-open Veverka, who sent it to the back of the net. Six minutes later, after a failed clear by the Crimson Eagles, Santulli gathered the ball and sent a laser from just outside the box. CC would maintain that 3-0 edge into halftime.

In the second half, however, the Cyclones turned up the scoring, finishing with five goals in the period to complete the 8-0 win. Farrell scored once and assisted another and Overland and Dexter each recorded two assists in the stanza.

The Lady Cyclones return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 21, with a home match against non-conference foe Wilkes at 4:00 p.m.
