Volleyball Comes Up Short On Day Two Of Kean Invitational

Junior Kelsey Walter finished with 57 digs in the two matches.

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (September 18, 2010) – The Centenary volleyball team (2-11) competed in the second and final day of the Kean Invitational, Saturday in Union, N.J. The Lady Cyclones dropped the first game, 3-0 against CCNY, and then fell to Montclair State 3-2 despite winning the first two sets.

Junior Kelsey Walter (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) registered 45 digs in the five-set loss to Montclair State in route to a total of 57 digs in the two matches. The 45 digs against MSU is the second-highest single-game total in Centenary history. Sophomore Jelena Markovic (Brcko, Bosnia and Herzegovina/The Economic School) finished with 29 assists and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Junior Devon Paffendorf (Hackettstown, N.J./Mount Olive) finished the two contests with 27 kills.

Centenary is next in action on Wednesday, Sept. 22 when the Lady Cyclones host Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Neumann University, at 7:00 p.m.
