Known for taking her audiences on "intellectual and emotional journeys," featured guest artist Carolyn Dorfman once again shares her energetic and provocative style with students during the Centenary Stage's third annual Summer Dance Intensive.
Dorfman holds a BFA in dance from the University of Michigan and an MFA from New York University. She has taught for schools and dance companies throughout NJ and the U.S., including Limon Institute. She has created over 60 works that have been hailed by critics.
"I am delighted to be returning to Centenary College to teach a master class this summer," says Dorfman. "Sharing my art and process in educational and community settings is an integral part of my professional life. I began my teaching career at Centenary College in 1980 and it was an extraordinary time and place for me to grow. I return with gratitude, great memories, and the promise of greater collaborations to come...".
In addition to Dorfman, Trista Redavid and Sarah Geroulo-Rutledge of R-2 Dance Company will lead a master class in Nikolais/Louis Technique and Contact Improvisation. R-2 has presented works at the SWEAT modern dance series and at the Hatch in NYC. Justin Boccitto will also give a master class in Broadway Dance. He has served as a guest artist with Broadway Dance Center, the Juilliard School, Circle in the Square Theatre School, and Broadway Artists Alliance. Additional Summer Intensive staff members include Trayer Run-Kowzan, Kristen Egan, Christine Mase, and Lea Antolini-Lid.
