SCRANTON, Pa. (September 29, 2010) – The Centenary men’s soccer team (3-6, 0-1) dropped their first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game, 2-1, Wednesday night at Marywood (7-3, 2-0).

Marywood opened a 2-0 lead behind goals in the 14th minute from sophomore Ryan Jones and in the 65th minute from freshman Christian Lawlor. The Centenary men's soccer team's captains got the Cyclones closer in the 80th minute when junior co-captain Matt Winkler (Great Meadows, N.J./Hackettstown) headed the ball into the net off the throw by sophomore co-captain Patrick Bourland (Vienna, N.J./Hackettstown). The Cyclones were unable to put in any of their other 10 shots into goal and that 2-1 score was the final.

Centenary was outshot by Marywood, 22-11. Junior goalkeeper Jason Rogers (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) had 10 saves in the loss. The Cyclones were led in shots by junior Daniel Berniz (Budd Lake, N.J./Mount Olive) with four, two on goal. Sophomore Alex Khouri (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) also had two shots on goal for Centenary.
