CSA Team Academic Achievement Award Winners Announcement POSTPONED
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (September 22, 2010) – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match between the Centenary volleyball team and Neumann, originally scheduled for Sept. 22 at 7:00 p.m., has been postponed. The game has been tentatively re-scheduled for Monday, Oct. 4, at the same time. The Council for Student-Athletes (CSA) Team Academic Achievement Award winners ceremony will now take place on Monday, Sept. 27, during the Lady Cyclones' match with Delaware Valley, which begins at 6:00 p.m.
The CSA Team Academic Achievement Award is given to the programs with the highest team GPA for the 2009-10 season. Centenary Athletics had a banner year on and off the field in 2009-10. Besides the athletic success the teams achieved, the school honored 230 student-athletes with Athletic Academic Honor Roll accolades, given to those with a 3.0 GPA or above. Thirty athletes finished with a GPA of 3.3 or above and received Athletic Academic Excellence Awards.
Centenary also saw 115 of its student-athletes named to the CSAC All-Academic Team, given to those with a 3.2 GPA or above. Eleven athletes took home Regional All-Academic Team honors. Four teams earned Team Academic Awards and two programs were ranked among the top 20 in team GPA in their respective sports, as women’s basketball finished with the second-highest team GPA in the nation and wrestling posted the 17th-best GPA in the country.
The volleyball match will begin at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free with Centenary ID, or $3 for adults and $1 for children, senior citizens and visiting students with ID.
