Centenary's Disaster Relief Will Return to New Orleans!
10/14/2010, 02:22 PM
For the past five years The Disaster Relief Trip has been aiding those in New Orleans still recovering from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. We are proud to announce that we will be returning again to continue rebuilding and restoring. In the last five years, hundreds of Centenary students and staff members alike have gone to New Orleans to help build over 350 homes, impacting the lives of many.
Centenary has worked with Drew University, The St. Bernard Project, and Habitat for Humanity, and these results would not have been possible without them. Even in these hard economic times Centenary’s spirit remains strong and optimistic as we strive towards our 2010 goal of organizing another successful trip.
Our 6th annual trip will be from January 1st- 9th 2011, during the winter break. This is a great community service opportunity that should not be missed. There is no better feeling than knowing you have changed the life of even one individual, to that of hundreds of families benefitting from the project.
In order to participate in this trip, a $100 deposit will be required by October 29th 2010 to reserve your spot on the trip. Due to the high amount of interest and limited space please be sure to get your deposit in as soon as possible to secure your spot. An additional $250 will be required from all participants to cover travel expenses to and from New Orleans. Efforts to fundraise for further expenses and support will be required of all volunteers and please contact Neil Andrito for more information on available scholarship opportunities for those who need assistance.
The general interest meeting will be held on Tuesday October 19th at 9:30pm in Ferry 12. All are welcome to attend!
See you then!
