Shippen Manor Museum to Be Featured on Upcoming “Ghost Hunters” Episode

Hackettstown, N.J., May 5, 2010 – Colleen Eastman, a Centenary College student and resident of Washington Township, can add “historical internship” to her résumé when she graduates next year.  She can also boast that she was involved in the taping of the show “Ghost Hunters”!

For the past semester, Eastman has been an intern at Shippen Manor Museum in Oxford, N.J., where she has been involved in projects such as cataloging more than 1,000 Native American artifacts.  This History student has also dressed in Colonial period clothes in her role of tour assistant, participating in projects such as “Musket Day.”  She was also part of a presentation on how to cook a ham and onion pie, which was a favorite recipe during that era.

Eastman also had the unique experience of assisting Shippen Manor Museum’s Curator, Andy Drysdale, during an episode of Sy Fy’s television show “Ghost Hunters,” which focuses on the paranormal activity at the Shippen Manor Museum.  The show is scheduled to air later this summer.

“Working with Colleen has been quite positive – a win-win situation for all involved,” says Drysdale.  “Her work ethic is impeccable.”

So, what is in store for this star intern? Eastman plans to spend this summer on Easter Island through a program with the University of Hawaii.  She will be involved in analyzing the findings of an archeological dig.

“I am very thankful to Centenary College for enabling me to pursue such innovative learning experiences, such as a past study abroad opportunity to Japan, my internship with Shippen Manor Museum and my upcoming summer study on Easter Island,” says Eastman.  “I am so grateful to have had these opportunities and look forward to what the future brings.”
