Hackettstown, N.J., June 29, 2010 – Robert Quade, Professor Emeritus of Centenary College, was inducted into the Hackettstown Senior Hall of Fame for his commitment to community service.

The Senior Hall of Fame was established in 1997 by Hackettstown Community Hospital’s Healthier Community Initiative, with the hope of improving the quality of life in the Northwest New Jersey area.  One of the aims of the program is to encourage senior citizens’ involvement in activities that promote health and wellness.

Robert Quade has contributed significantly through his numerous volunteer achievements in the Hackettstown area.  He has lent time and talent to the Hackettstown Business Improvement District (BID) and guided many of his students in conducting research and surveys to assist the business community.  Under his direction, his students have helped numerous local businesses determine the products and services that residents of the area want and need, and how local businesses can meet those demands.

As an active member of the Hackettstown Rotary Club, he has led the Club’s Scholarship Committee, which again this year awarded two scholarships to graduating Hackettstown High School seniors.  He has been a member of the Hackettstown Rotary Club since 2006 and the Hackettstown BID since 2005.

"I nominated Robert Quade because he is reliable and hard-working and never shies away from lending his support to Rotary Club activities, whether it is selling raffle tickets or manning the gate at the Memorial Madness Car Show," says Kevin Guyette, Director of Development at the ARC of Warren County and Hackettstown Rotary Past President.  "His efforts are tireless and I am glad that he was recognized in this way."

Quade has an extensive and distinguished career in both the business and academic worlds. He holds an MBA from the University of Iowa and directed a department in the NYC Health and Hospital Corporation for 16 years. An expert in market research, he has consulted for companies such as Becton-Dickinson, Exxon, Pfizer and C. R. Bard, and developed the first market research group in professional products at Johnson & Johnson, as well as serving as a sales manager and new products manager.

He has taught at the University of Iowa, University of Arkansas, Rutgers University, Fairleigh Dickinson University and Thomas Edison State College.  Professor Quade has also been the recipient of numerous awards,  founded the Centenary Wrestling team and spearheaded Centenary’s "Ethiopia Reads" campaign.   In addition, he received an honorary doctorate from Centenary College in 2007.

Each of this year’s inductees into the Senior Hall of Fame was spotlighted on WRNJ Radio with a daily profile of his or her accomplishments.
