College Moves to Direct Lending on July 1, 2010.
Hackettstown, N.J., June 16, 2010 – As of July 1, 2010, the United States Department of Education has mandated that all Colleges and Universities participating in the Federal Student Loan programs must offer all new loans through the Federal Direct Loan Program.
As a result, Centenary College students can complete their loan entrance counseling and their master promissory notices conveniently in one location. Students will have immediate accessibility to reports necessary for reconciliations with the Centenary College Business Office. In addition, students will have 24-hour access to information pertaining to their federal student aid at their fingertips by visiting www.studentloans.gov.
“This process will assist students in managing their debt and hopefully increase awareness about borrowing wisely,” says Michelle Burwell, Associate Director of Financial Aid at Centenary College. “It is a win-win situation for the College and the student. I look forward to working with our students under the auspices of this new program.”
