Hackettstown, N.J., May 21, 2010 — Transfer-friendly Centenary College is still accepting students for the fall.  Academic and needs based awards are still available for students who meet the necessary criteria.  Each year, Centenary allocates approximately $1.7 million toward funds for transfer students.

Centenary College transfers up to 96 credits from an accredited four-year institution and up to 72 credits from an accredited community college.  Prospective students also have the opportunity to be counseled by the Admissions Staff while they are still enrolled at their sending institutions.  Centenary requires 128 credits to earn a bachelor’s degree.

“Our counselors take the time to work with prospective students right at the beginning of their college career, if they would like,” says Donna Williams, Director of Graduate and Transfer Enrollment at Centenary College.  “It provides them with the opportunity to save a lot of time and money.”

Centenary’s transfer students also register for classes with the Centenary general population, provided that the transfer students pay their deposit early in the process.

“It is our policy to try to get students in their classes when they need it, so they graduate within a four-year time frame, if possible,” says Williams.

Centenary College is a proud sponsor of the Yellow Ribbon Program; a benefit authorized under the Post-9/11 GI Bill.  For qualified veterans, the bill will provide tuition funding for any amount under or equal to in-state tuition at New Jersey’s highest priced public institution.  The remaining tuition expenses at Centenary will be split evenly between the College and the Department of Veteran Affairs.  Veteran students who do not qualify for the Yellow Ribbon program may receive a veteran’s scholarship or military discount from Centenary and are encouraged to apply for other grants.
