College Inducts Eight Psi Chi Members from Warren, Morris, and Sussex Counties
Hackettstown, N.J., April 23, 2010 – The Centenary College Psi Chi Chapter recently inducted eight officers from Warren, Morris and Sussex counties at its Hackettstown-based campus. In addition, the new Psi Chi Officers for the 2010/2011 academic year were installed.
The inducted members are Victoria Chadwick of Newton, N.J., Ashley Kimble of Washington, N.J., Jacqueline Kuck of Budd Lake, N.J., Alexa Lass of Budd Lake, N.J., Sherry Parker of Oxford, N.J., Jenny Shaker of Hopatcong, N.J., Crystal Yopp of Chester, N.J., and Amanda Ziemba of Great Meadows, N.J. The new officers for 2010/2011 are Amanda Ziemba, President; Ashley Kimble, Vice President and Barbra Venezia, of Newton, N.J., Secretary.
Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests, and who meet the minimum qualifications. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS). Psi Chi’s sister honor society is Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges.
“These students represent those who are dedicated to excel in their field,” says Dr. Keith Morgen, Assistant Professor of Psychology and Psi Chi faculty advisor. “Psi Chi students at Centenary have spearheaded recent successful projects, such as fundraiser for P.G. Chambers School in Cedar Knolls, food drives for a community food bank, and some were selected to present their substance abuse research at the Eastern Psychological Association (EPA) Conference in Brooklyn.”
