Centenary College and In Awe Foundation Inc. to Sponsor the Showing of "The Anonymous People"

Hackettstown, N.J.,– The Centenary College Counseling Center and In Awe Foundation, Inc., are sponsoring a movie screening of The Anonymous People at 7:30 p.m. April 29, 2014, at Bow Tie Cinemas in Mansfield. Tickets cost $12.50 and members of the community are invited to attend.

The Anonymous People is a feature documentary film about the more than 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery from alcohol and drug addiction.  Deeply entrenched social stigma have kept recovery voices silent and faces hidden for decades.  The vacuum has been filled with sensational mass media depictions of people with addictions that perpetuate a lurid fascination with the dysfunctional side of what is a preventable and treatable health condition.  Just like with women with breast cancer, or people with HIV/AIDS, a grass-roots social justice movement is emerging.
Courageous addiction recovery advocates have come out of the shadows and are organizing to end discrimination and move toward recovery-based solutions.

This opportunity was spearheaded by Centenary student Melissa O’Mara, who also has developed a weekly Addiction Recovery Series at the campus under the direction of Lorna Farmer, Director of the Counseling Center at Centenary College.

“Melissa’s dedication to providing support and information on this sensitive subject to her peers and beyond is incredible,” says Farmer.  “She aspires to change lives through the dissemination of information on this subject.  We are lucky to know her and work with her in this capacity.”

For more information, call Melissa O’Mara at (803)-81-InAwe or (908) 892-5096.  If people would like to donate tickets to the local Police Departments or Probation Offices.

Tickets must be purchased in advance.  Please utilize the following link to reserve your tickets: http://gathr.us/screening/7410.
