Though we may not admit it, everyone loves a good scandal. Add in a rich and powerful family, and the plot thickens. Mix in some military, spies and treason, and well, it sounds like the makings of a great reality show. But this 'show' was reality. Benedict Arnold was a General during the Revolutionary War. Peggy Shippen was born into one of the most prominent families in Philadelphia. She was destined for a life of wealth and prominence, until fate intervened and on April 8, 1779, the 37-year-old Arnold married then 19-year-old Peggy.
His name is forever synonymous with the word traitor, but what were the circumstances around Arnold's betrayal? And what role did Peggy play? Join the HHS on Thursday, November 4 at 7:30 PM when Woody Burgener presents 'Betrayal - Benedict Arnold and Peggy Shippen'.
