Memorial Science Internship

The Science Internship Program is design to offer Biology and Environmental Science research opportunities for undergraduate students of Centenary College as they learn to apply classroom knowledge to the real world and transition from the college environment into the workplace.

The Science Internship awards a stipend of up to $5000 in the areas of Biology and Environmental Sciences.

Objectives of the Internship

Each applicant will be evaluated by the Centenary College Student Research Committee.

Each student must provide details of the internship and the amount of funding during the internship. The student must also provide proof of acceptance into the internship program from the entity or organization providing the experience.

The internship opportunity should be full time and include a minimum of 140 hours during the summer or winter breaks. It should provide the student with research opportunities and practical experience. Upon completion of the internship, the intern should provide a written report and/or presentation from the internship.

Eligibility:

  • Undergraduate students in good standing with a minimum of a 3.2 GPA who are rising juniors and above.
  • Students that have completed their degree with a minimum of a 3.2 GPA may be eligible for internships taking place in the immediate summer after graduation.
  • Students must meet all guidelines set forth by the specific internship entities.
  • Students have demonstrated an interest in the biological or environmental sciences.
  • Preference will be given to biology and environmental science majors.
  • Students may receive a Science Internship Award only once.

Application Process and Required Documentation:

  • Resume
  • Unofficial Transcript
  • Detailed budget outlining the expected expenses for the duration of the internship.
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty members.
  • One page proposal explaining how the internship will enhance the student’s education and allow them to gain new skills in his/her areas of career interests or graduate research.
  • Acknowledgement from the potential sponsor of the defined internship.
  • If approved, a stipend of a maximum of $5000 is available to the selected recipient.
