Professor Linda Ritchie earned her Bachelor in Science in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University. After graduation, she was hired by the Army Armament Research, Development & Engineering Center (ARDEC) at Picatinny Arsenal as a Mechanical Engineer for the Pyrotechnics Group where she served as a project manager for the Pyrotechnic Simulator Safety Study. Professor Ritchie was also a member of team that redesigned several pyrotechnic simulators.
Professor Ritchie entered the graduate program in Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University/University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). Her course of study and research focused on mathematical modeling of cardiac physiology and bio-instrumentation. She was a member of a design team that built and tested a prototype of an implantable left ventricular assist device. Her Master’s Thesis, “Evaluation of the Power Output & Efficiency of a Newly Developed Cardiac Assist Device”, was presented at both the 15th Annual Northeast Biomedical Engineering Conference, Boston University, Boston, MA and at the First Annual Bioengineering Conference, IEEE Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society, Rockefeller University, NY. While at Rutgers she received a Teaching Assistantship to instruct three recitation classes per semester of Introduction to Computers for Engineers.
After graduating with her Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering, Professor Ritchie accepted a position in the Technology Transfer Office at Rutgers where she worked as a liaison between the faculty of the College of Engineering & Physical Sciences, the Advanced Technology Centers, and those companies interested in licensing their inventions.
Professor Ritchie began teaching Developmental Math and Algebraic Modeling I at Centenary as an Adjunct faculty member in 2005. She joined the Mathematics & Natural Sciences Department full time the following year.
