Interlibrary Loan

Click icon to access JerseyCat.

Interlibrary loan provides access to academic resources that are currently unavailable at Taylor Memorial Library. If you are a student, faculty or staff member of Centenary College, you are eligible to borrow materials from other libraries through this service. Undergraduates may request ten or fewer resources per week, and graduate students may request as many resources as needed.

Although Taylor Memorial Library offers free interlibrary loan services, some institutions charge a fee to borrow their materials. If a requested item is only available with an associated fee, Taylor Memorial Library will notify the borrower. If the borrower decides to accept the charge, it must be paid within two days of notification, or the request will need to be reprocessed.

Please search Taylor Memorial Library’s Catalog before requesting an item through interlibrary loan. If the item is not available, use the following interlibrary loan procedure:

  1. Access JerseyCat by clicking the JerseyCat logo and follow the instructions on the JerseyCat home page. JerseyCat is New Jersey's statewide virtual catalog and interlibrary loan system, which offers access to books, CDs, DVDs, videos and audio books held by member libraries.
  2. If you have trouble finding the needed item on JerseyCat, complete an Interlibrary Loan Request Form at Taylor Memorial Library or contact Taylor Memorial Library for assistance. The library staff will make every effort to find and fulfill the request.

Please note that it can take approximately 2 weeks or more to receive a requested item; wait times may be longer, if a number of libraries must be contacted to obtain the item or if the item is only available outside of New Jersey.

Loan period: Typically 3 weeks; however, some lending libraries have shorter or longer loan periods. Always refer to the due date on the front of the book. A late fee will be charged for overdue books.

Renewals: To request a renewal of an interlibrary loan item, contact Taylor Memorial Library before the due date. Taylor Memorial Library will attempt to renew the item, but if the lending library refuses, it must be returned by the due date. Another copy of the item may be requested from another library.

Lost Materials: The lending institution determines its charge, which is paid by the borrower.
