Article Vendors

Academic OneFile - Offers peer-reviewed, full-text articles with extensive coverage of the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects. Includes full-text coverage of the New York Times from 1995.

Agricola - Provides information on agricultural topics and citations from the National Agricultural Library's online database. Order materials through Taylor Memorial Library's interlibrary loan service.

Alexander Street Press: Theatre in Video - Contains more than 250 definitive performances of the world's leading plays, more than 100 film documentaries and BBC content in streaming video. Alexander Street Press: Dance in Video - Offers 500 hours of dance productions and documentaries by some of the most influential performers and companies of the 20th century. Selections include ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental and improvisational dance, as well as forerunners of the forms and the pioneers of modern concert dance. Biography Reference Bank - Provides biographical information on approximately half a million people, from antiquity to the present, along with thousands of images. It contains full-text articles from more than 100 volumes of biographical reference books, including Current Biography, the World Author Series, Nobel Prize Winners, World Artists, World Film Directors, American Reformers and numerous biographical books on musicians and composers throughout history.

Business and Company Resource Center - Compiles company profiles, brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies and periodicals. Search this database to find detailed company and industry news and information.

Business Searching Interface - Browse and search for country economic data, company profiles, industry information and market research reports.

Contemporary Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism Select, Dictionary of Literary Biography - Contemporary Authors provides complete biographical and bibliographical information on more than 120,000 U.S. and international authors. Contemporary Literary Criticism--Select collects more than 11,000 critical essays on contemporary authors, with biographical, critical, principal
works and further study information. Dictionary of Literary Biography provides nearly 10,000 biographical and critical essays on the lives, works and careers of influential literary figures from all eras and genres.

Corfacts Online (New Jersey Business-to-Business Directory) - Access information about more than 56,000 New Jersey companies in services and manufacturing. View, print or export data as mailing labels.

Country Watch - Provides economic, political, social, investment and environmental data for more than 190 countries.

CREDO Reference - Includes over three million full-text entries from reference resources, such as dictionaries, bilingual dictionaries, thesauri, encyclopedias, quotations and atlases, plus a wide range of subject-specific titles covering topics from art to accountancy, science to Shakespeare and law to literature.

Digital Scriptorium - Contains medieval and renaissance manuscripts. It is searchable by text or image.

EBSCO - Offers a number of databases comprised of scholarly and other publications that are useful for education, psychology and general research. From the EBSCO home page, select a type of database to search:

  • EBSCOhost and EBSCOhost-Peer Reviewed Databases are databases that are comprised of many databases. For example, selecting EBSCOhost enables users to search a combination of 29 databases, including Academic Search Premier, ERIC, PsycINFO, PsycARTICLES, Literary Reference Center and Business Source Premier.
  • If a search requires only one database, select Academic Search Premier, ERIC, Points of View, Literary Reference Center, Business Searching Interface, Salud en Español or another educational database.

Ellis Island - Search historically significant genealogical and immigration records compiled from the archives at Ellis Island, a principal immigration station for the United States from 1892 to 1954, which is located in the Upper Bay of the Hudson River.

FedStats - Includes statistics from more than 100 Federal agencies in the United States.

Gale Databases - Lists all resources provided by the database vendor and enables users to cross-search all of the databases or a selection by clicking the respective radio button under the search box.

Gale Virtual Reference Library - Search more than 32 encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for information on diverse subjects, such as fashion, the environment, crime, world cultural leaders, religion, statistical information, sociology, ethics and media.

Gender Watch - Provides full-text articles from unique and diverse publications that focus on how gender impacts a broad spectrum of subject areas. Its archival material dates from 1970 in some cases, and it is a repository of important historical perspectives on the evolution of the women's movement, men's studies, the transgendered community and the changes in gender roles over the years.

GREENR (Global Reference on the Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources) - Focuses on the physical, social and economic aspects of environmental issues. Topic, organization and country portals form research centers around issues covering energy systems, health care, agriculture, climate change, population and economic development. Portals include authoritative analysis, academic journals, news, case studies, legislation, conference proceedings, primary source documents, statistics and rich multimedia. Use Browse Issues and Topics, World Map, Basic Search or Advanced Search to explore the database.

INFOVETS - Offers animal reference manuals, including an equine veterinary manual, a searchable animal health database, and a Consult-A-Vet feature that enables users to ask questions directly to affiliated veterinarians. To log on, click "Manuals Online" and obtain the required ID and password from Taylor Memorial Library. 

Lexis-Nexis - Access full-text articles from more than 6,000 news, business, legal and other sources. Its scope is international, and it offers access to the Shepard's Citations® service for all federal and states court cases from 1789 and a Company Dossier module that enables users to retrieve detailed company information and financial performance measures and to identify and compare companies matching specific criteria.

Listen NJ NW - Download eBooks and audiobooks to the Overdrive Media Console (Download the Overdrive Media Console) and play them on a PC or PDA. The Taylor Memorial Library Card Number on the reverse side of the Centenary College ID Card is required to use this service.

Literature Resource Center - Find up-to-date biographical information, overviews, full-text literary criticism and reviews on more than 130,000 writers in all disciplines, from all time periods and from around the world.

NoodleTools - Build bibliographic citations in APA or MLA style. Be sure to create a personal folder before using the tool.

Nursing Resource Center - Offers disease and drug overviews, care plans, relevant journal results and animated anatomy and physiology diagrams to complement the core encyclopedia texts. Search results are returned in tabs that correspond to steps in the nursing process.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center - Provides information on current social issues. Opposing Viewpoints features viewpoint articles, topic overviews, full-text magazine, academic journal, and newspaper articles, primary source documents, statistics, images and podcasts and links to websites.

OvidSP - Access Social Work Abstracts and full-text articles from journals that cover all areas of health care and social sciences, such as Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, HypertensionEpidemiology, Medical Care and more. 

Oxford Encyclopedia of Social Work - Includes issues that have evolved since the 1995 publication of the 19th edition, including demographic changes in immigration, technology, the implications of managed care, faith-based assistance, evidence-based practice, gerontology and trauma and disaster.  Contains more than 400 subject entries and 200 brief biographies of key figures in the history of social work.

Oxford English Dictionary - Provides the pronunciation, history and meaning of more than 500,000 words used in the English language.

Project Muse - Access full-text resources in the arts, humanities and social sciences, including scholarly works from publishers such as Johns Hopkins University Press.

PROMT (Predicast Overview of Markets and Technology) - Offers information on companies, products and technologies and markets. This database includes summaries and full text from nearly 1,000 business and trade journals, industry newsletters, newspapers, market research studies, news releases and investment and brokerage firm reports.

ProQuest - Provides access to more than 125 billion digital pages of the world's scholarship in multiple fields, from arts, literature, and social science to general reference, business, economics, finance, science, technology and medicine. Among the numerous databases offered are Historical New York Times, Wall Street Journal, ABI/INFORM and Hoover's Company Records. More information. PubMed - Offers more than 19 million citations for biomedical articles from MEDLINE and life science journals. Citations may include links to full-text articles from PubMed Central or publisher websites.

ReferenceUSA - Contains business and consumer research related to the United States and Canada, including new and existing businesses, new and existing home owners, new movers and dentists and physicians. Provided by NJ State Library.

Science Resource Center - Provides thousands of topic overviews, experiments, biographies, pictures and illustrations and covers the latest scientific developments. Included are articles published in more than 200 magazines and academic journals and links to quality web sites.

Small Business Resource Center - Offers information about starting, financing or managing a small business. Resources include sample business plans, how-to guides, articles and websites.

Social Work Abstracts - Created by the National Associaton of Social Workers, this database contains citations for 45,000 records; full-text articles are not provided.

Stylesight - Contains fashion industry news, trends, market intelligence and design resources. Features a large collection of images that may be downloaded.

WGSN - Offers fashion trend forecasting and analysis, CAD design, global industry news and reports and design and fashion guidance. Log into WGSN using the same username and password as Blackboard.

The following vendors provide an index to scholarly articles, and patrons must pay for full-text articles. 

Google Scholar - Offers scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources: articles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions from academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories, universities and other websites.

Ingenta Connect - Provides citations taken from about 13,600 academic and professional publications in subject areas from agriculture to the social sciences. Request articles through Taylor Memorial Library's interlibrary loan service or purchase them directly from the organization.

Scirus - Provides about 370 million indexed scientific items, including scholarly journals, scientists' homepages, courseware, pre-print server material, patents and institutional repository and website information.
