On February 27, Centenary held the first Winter Carnival in two years. Classes were dismissed early in the afternoon, and the back campus was soon a beehive of activity.
Each dormitory chose a theme on which to build their snow sculptures. Van Winkle’s theme was "Dangerous Dan McGrew" Lotte Hall followed with "Jonah and the Whale." North's "Humpty Dumpty" had a great fall, as five girls attempted to hoist him up on the wall. South Hall built a colorful 'Old Woman in a Shoe."
At dinner that evening, President Seay announced the winner of the day’s events, and awarded the prize, to South Hall's "old woman." North Hall, after getting Humpty together again, knocked him down when they found out that they had I only been awarded second prize.
The day ended happily, after Jonah killed the whale, Dangerous Dan had his revenge, and the old woman in the shoe finally put her children to bed.
