Telephone & Voicemail Guidelines

A. What is your extension?

  1. A four digit extension number to your room was assigned to you by Campus Life. Locate your assigned extension number before proceeding with the rest of these instructions.
  2. Plug your phone into one of the black phone jacks in your room. (normally the top jacks)
  3. If you hear a dial tone call the operator (dial 0) and ask what extension you are calling from. If this is not the extension number you were assigned you must repeat step 2. If none of the black jacks contain your number. Please follow the instructions below on “F. Who do I call when my telephone doesn’t work”.

B. How can I be reached by callers off campus?

  • If your four digit extension number is in the 4000 through 4399 range. You can be reached by dialing 908 979-(your 4 digit extension number).
  • If your four digit extension number is in the 4500 through 4599 range. You can be reached by dialing 908 684-(your 4 digit extension number).
  • If your four digit extension number is in the 4600 through 4699 range. You can be reached by dialing 908 366-(your 4 digit extension number).
  • If your four digit extension number is in the 7400 through 7599 range. You can be reached by dialing 908 366-(your 4 digit extension number).

C. How do I access by Voice Mail?

  1. If you are on campus dial 4242 or off campus dial 908 979-4242.
  2. Enter your mailbox number (your 4 digit extension number) and press the # button.
  3. Enter your password (your 4 digit extension number) and press the # button.

D. How do I set up my Voice Mail?

  1. Access your Voice Mail (previous paragraph steps 1 through 3).
  2. Proceed to change your Greetings. Press 82 and follow instructions.
  3. Proceed to change your Password. Press 84 and follow instructions.
  4. Proceed to change your Personal Verification. Press 89 and State your name and ext. number only. Then press the # button.

E. How do I call off campus?

    For local calling dial 8 and the remaining 7 digits. For long distance calling dial 8 and enter your 1 800 calling card number (available at bookstore or locally).

F. Who do I call when my telephone line doesn’t work?

    Dial the Help Desk at ext. 2362 to report your trouble or go online to http://www.centenarycollege.edu/its/ If you leave a message, please ensure you leave the following information; your full name, assigned extension number, room number, and campus PO box number or an alternative extension number to contact you.
