Meet the First Year Leaders!

First Year Leaders are upper class students at Centenary College who have been hand-picked because of their leadership qualities.

They fill the roles of mentor, friend or informative source for incoming students.

First Year Leaders are here to help new students with a smooth transition from high school to college. These leaders are embedded in the Academic Foundations at Centenary Courses (AFC) and attend every session of their assigned class. In the classroom they are expected to aid the professor. Outside class, the FYL’s are available to tutor students in all AFC related course work and are responsible for coordinating social programs that promote team building and bonding.

Centenary University has enabled me to grow not only in an academic sense, but also as a well-rounded person. The experiences I have encountered have helped me improve my life and the lives of people around me. The main thing that make Centenary stand out from other colleges is the relationship a student is able to make with their professor. My professors are not just here to teach me, they are here to better me as a person and help me academically. Lastly, I have made friends that will last me a lifetime and beyond. I cannot imagine being anywhere but Centenary University.

My favorite memory at Centenary was when my AFC class had breakfast at Dr. Bergey's house. It sounds so simple, but that day allowed us all to bond in a way I never thought possible.
