Bachelor of Arts in Communication

The Communication program is now located in the new David and Carol Lackland Center, which includes a state-of-the-art learning laboratory that is home to the College-owned radio station WNTI (91.9FM) and Channel 23 (Centenary College Television 23).

Centenary offers degree focuses in:

The Communication major offers students a strong foundation in journalism and broadcast media. Students learn about writing, producing, hosting and interviewing subjects for broadcast media.  They also study media history and regulation and examine media’s impact on society.  The program explores nonfiction free-lance writing opportunities, advanced theories and methods in mass media, journalistic ethics, media law, and advertising.

The challenging curriculum also provides students with hands-on experience through:

  • The College-owned radio station WNTI. Visit www.wnti.org.
  • CCTV, channel 6. Our on-campus TV station.
  • Production of the college-sponsored newspaper The Quill.
  • The college yearbook The Hack.

Internships

Centenary's Communication students have access to a large variety of internships right here in New Jersey.  With an added bonus of close proximity to New York our Communication students have tremendous opportunities with national media outlets.  Past students have completed internships at Fox 5 News, Fox & Friends, CBS News, Nickelodeon, WDHA and many other media organizations.

The communication degree program prepares students for graduate programs in journalism and related studies, and a multitude of careers in print and broadcast media, public relations, and corporate communications.

Communication Minor

Students majoring in other disciplines may elect to take a 15-credit Communication minor.
