Career Writing Program at Centenary College

Career writing is an important part of today's business world.  With Social Media, the internet, and the increasing popularity of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets business in every industry are concerned with being sure that their marketing materials, memos, statements, and press releases convey their professional image.  The traditional English Major and those interested in career writing are finding that their linguistics skills are sought after in day to day and special project work. 

Students interested in careers in creative and professional writing may select any four of the following courses:

  • ENG 2012 Advanced Composition
  • COM 2011 Introduction to Journalism
  • COM 3013 Nonfiction Free-lance Writing
  • COM3018 Writing for Public Relations
  • COM 3019 Technical Writing

Professionals active in these fields in the New Jersey / New York area contribute to the course of study for this program. Assistance is provided to students seeking internships in publishing and communications in New Jersey and New York City. Student writing for these courses is considered for the College’s Strickhausen Award for Excellence in Writing and its accompanying cash honorarium.
