Biography

Stephen received the Two Thumbs Up Teaching Award, for making a difference in the lives of students with learning disabilities, from the University of South Carolina. Shows directed at Centenary: Antigone, Lobby Hero, Ubu Roi, Italian American Reconciliation, Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, and Twelfth Night. In the fall of 2013 he will direct Naomi Iizuka's Polaroid Stories. He was Mr. Brownlow in Oliver! and Professor Marvel and the Wizard in The Wizard of Oz. He served as the fight choreographer for The Cripple of Inishmaan, The Wizard of Oz, Breakfast with Mugabe, and Oliver! He teaches courses in Acting, Stage Combat, Theatrical Makeup, Theatre History, Theatre Appreciation, and Drama as Literature.

Prior to Centenary Stephen taught and directed for Kean University, the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Playwright’s Theatre of New Jersey, Primary Stages, Folger Theatre of DC, and the American Globe Theatre in NYC.

While at Centenary, Professor Davis was honored with the 2010-2011 United Methodist Exemplary Teaching Award.
