Class Representative's Responsibilities

The representative's duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Serve as spokesperson for the group in order to maintain a constructive dialogue with the College.

  2. Contact faculty member at least one week prior to course start date to obtain/confirm first week assignment.

  3. Inform cohort members of first week course assignment.

  4. Assist instructor in making a smooth transition when beginning a new class.

  5. Maintain and distribute a list of contact numbers, including e-mail, for each instructor and cohort members.  Cohort list should include a name and phone number of a contact person in the event to an emergency.

  6. Assist with the placement of “drop-in” students into study groups when necessary.  This should be done prior to the first class so the drop-in can participate in the first night’s study group assignment.

  7. Ensure that the classroom is in satisfactory condition at the end of each class meeting.  Note:  This is also the instructor’s responsibility. 

  8. Report any student concerns to the CAPS staff.

  9. Develop and coordinate a contact chain for informing students of important information.

  10. Collect and return end-of course surveys to the CAPS staff.

  11. Inform the cohort Student Service Specialist if leaving the program or cannot perform the duties as class representative.

  12. Attend periodic meetings as scheduled.  

  13. Assist in distribution of program related materials.
