(3/8/08) Seinor Mike Gummerson (Newton/Kittatinny) finishes his career with an overall record of 80 wins and 18 losses. During his time at Centenary, Gummerson qualified for the NCAA Division III National Wrestling Championships three times.
In his most recent trip, Gummerson found himself one win away from becoming Centenarys first All-American. In his opening match, Mike suffered a tough loss to fourth seed Jacob Helvey of Wartburg 9-4. Gummerson then bounced back to defeat Dave Colagiovanni of Cortland by a major decision 13-5, placing him in the All-American round. Gummerson then took on third seed Travis Lang of Augsburg, taking a heart-breaking loss. Gummerson still found himself holding a certificate by earning an Academic All-American Award.
