Men's Basketball Coaches

Coach Enrico Mastroianni

Enrico Mastroianni begins his second season as Centenary’s head men’s basketball coach. His first year was very successful, as Mastroianni guided the young Cyclones to a 13-13 overall record and an 8-8 mark in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC). The team picked up more victories in 2008-09 than it had the last five seasons combined, and received the program’s first conference tournament berth in five years. Two student-athletes received All-CSAC accolades, as Andrew Baker was named to the Second Team and Ryan Kearney earned Honorable Mention honors. For his efforts, Mastroianni was named Centenary’s Coach of the Year.

Mastroianni came to Hackettstown after spending four seasons as the associate head coach at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa. During his time with the Cougars, Mastroianni was also the head junior varsity basketball coach, the Academic Coordinator for the men’s basketball team, top recruiter and major contributor to all strategic game-day and practice planning.

Mastroianni is a 1999 graduate of Penn State University where he completed his undergraduate degree in Marketing and International Business. Most recently he completed his Master’s Degree in Education at Misericordia University.

Mastroianni brings extensive basketball knowledge to Centenary beyond that which comes from his time at Misericordia. He has attended and worked at several Division I, II and III basketball and coaching camps and has had an opportunity to work with some of the best coaches in the country and continuously expand on his philosophies.
He has guided 11 student-athletes to All-Conference honors, including two First Team, three Second Team and three Honorable Mention awards. He has coached a 1,000 point scorer, served on the staff of a conference Coach of the Year and earned a Coach of the Year award himself, last year from Centenary.

In just one season, Mastroianni has transformed the culture of the Centenary men’s basketball program and the future looks bright.

“We are very fortunate with the type of student-athletes we have on our team,” he said. “Our guys understand that they cannot be successful on the court if they are not achieving success in the classroom and around the community. We have great character guys that have an unrelenting will to win – with a group like that, success is inevitable.”

Mastroianni resides in Hackettstown with his wife Jamie and their daughter, Angelina.
