![]() NJCU Dashes Past Centenary, 40-15Junior JOSEPH CARROLL (Jersey City, NJ/Hudson County Prep) crushed the field by nearly a minute on the 4500-meter course, and was almost three minutes faster than any finisher for Centenary College, as New Jersey City University easily defeated the Cyclones, 15-40, in NJCU Meet #2, Wednesday at Liberty State Park. Carroll won the fifth race of his career for the Gothic Knights (1-1), and finished as NJCU’s top male runner for the 16th time in the last 17 meets dating to the 2003 season. His winning margin of 54:55 was the second largest of his career. He won a NJCU meet by 1:15 on October 6, 2004. Overall, NJCU swept the top five spots in the race in convincing fashion, as junior DAVID PEREZ (Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson) listed second in 16:36.75. He has finished second among NJCU runners in nine of the last 10 meets since 2004. Freshman ANTHONY MILES (Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Township), the 2005 indoor national sprint champion in the 55-meter dash, was third overall in 18:50.40, improving his time from NJCU’s September 14 by nearly 52 seconds. Freshman CHRISTIAN ROMAN (Palisades Park, NJ/Palisades Park) placed fourth in 19:00.32 and junior JOSE CAMACHO (Jersey City, NJ /Ferris) was fifth in 19:01.83. Sean O’Keefe was sixth overall, and tops among Centenary runners in 19:03.05. NJCU will race this Saturday, September 24 at 10 am as part of the Drew University Invitational in Madison, NJ. Junior TEREZ TALA (Ogdensburg, NJ/Wallkill Valley Regional) extended her streak of consecutive meets as the top female runner for New Jersey City University’s women’s cross-country team to 18, dating to the 2003 season, and NJCU placed six runners among the top eight on the 2250-meter course at Liberty State Park, as the Gothic Knights defeated Centenary College, 24-31, in NJCU’s dual meet #2 of the 2005 season.
