![]() Cyclones Announce 2010 Fall Golf ScheduleThe Centenary College Golf team has announced their 2010 Fall schedule. The Cyclones open their season by playing in the Moravian Invitational at the Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville, Pa. on Thursday, Sept. 16. In addition, the Cyclones are also competing in the Purchase College Invitational in Old Oaks, N.Y. and the Lebanon Valley Invitational in Annville, Pa. The Lebanon Country Club in Annville will also be the sight of the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championships on Oct. 15-16. 2010 Season Review
The Centenary golf team continued to improve under head coach Josh Huber, who just completed his 11th year with the Cyclones. CC has finished sixth in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament the past two seasons, and with the majority of the players returning next year, the future certainly looks bright. In the 2010 CSAC Tournament, Sean Kelley finished one-stroke away from all-conference status, carding a two-day total of 167 (86-81). He finished the season with an average of 85.3, third on the team behind John Manos (83.0) and Brian Criscuolo (84.9). All three return for the Cyclones next season, as does Bill McNeir, who was fifth on the team with a 91.8 average. Centenary twice set program records in scoring in 2010. First, in the Centenary Quad Tournament on April 9, the Cyclones posted a team score of 328, led by McNeir’s personal-best 75. Less than two weeks later, the team finished score of 313 in a win over Purchase, setting a new program-record. Kelley and Criscuolo each tallied a 76, marking a personal-best for Kelley, Manos shot a career-high 78 and McNeir recorded an 86. Academically, seven Cyclones found their way onto the CSAC All-Academic Team and Manos and McNeir earned Spring FAR-FAB Scholar-Athlete Recognition Awards. CSAC Announces Winter/Spring All-Academic TeamHACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (June 1, 2010) – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) named 74 Centenary student-athletes to its Winter/Spring All-Academic Teams, the league announced. All eight Winter and Spring sports received academic awards, as men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, baseball, softball and golf are listed in the CSAC awards and wrestling was named a Scholar-Academic Team after posting the 17th-best GPA in the nation. “It is my pleasure to announce that 483 Colonial States Athletic Conference student-athletes have achieved the level of academic success necessary to be named to the Spring 2010 CSAC All-Academic Team,” said CSAC Commissioner Amy Friedman. “These student-athletes have assumed leadership roles on their campuses by demonstrating that a complete education includes both academics and athletics.” The CSAC All Academic Award is earned by each student-athlete that meets the NCAA Division III eligibility requirements, earns varsity status in their respective sport, and earns a minimum semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.2. The team consists of student-athletes from men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s golf, men's lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men's tennis, baseball and softball. Golf 2010 Winter/Spring All-Academic Team Centenary Golf Places Sixth In CSAC Tournament
AVONDALE, Pa. (April 25, 2010) – The Centenary golf team placed sixth out of seven teams in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament, Saturday and Sunday at the Inniscrone Golf Course in Avondale, Pa. Junior Sean Kelley (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) finished one-stroke shy of All-Conference, carding a two-day total of 167 (86-81). The Cyclones finished with a team score of 712 (353-359). Keystone placed first by shooting 647 (331-316), followed closely by defending champion Cabrini, which carded a 649 (321-328). Kelley’s score tied him for 11th-place overall. Sophomore John Manos (Hackettstown, N.J./Mount Olive) tied for 15th with a 172 (87-85) and freshman Brian Criscuolo (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive) finished tied at 20th-place by recording a 177 (87-90). Fellow classmate Bill McNeir (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) shot 198 (95-103) and senior Damien Gallegos (Rutherford, N.J./Queen of Peace) tallied a 204 (93-111) to round out the scoring for Centenary. (April 24, 2010) – The Centenary golf team finds itself in sixth-place out of seven schools after the first day of competition in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament, Saturday at the Inniscrone Golf Course in Avondale, Pa. The Cyclones finished day one with a team score of 353, trailing fifth-place squad Immaculata by just four strokes. Cabrini stands in first-place with a score of 321. Junior Sean Kelley (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) led the Cyclones with an 86, followed closely by sophomore John Manos (Hackettstown, N.J./Mount Olive) and freshman Brian Criscuolo (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive), as each carded an 87. Kelley’s score was good enough to tie him for 17th-place overall while Manos and Criscuolo stand tied for 20th-place. Senior Damien Gallegos (Rutherford, N.J./Queen of Peace) finished with a 93 and freshman Bill McNeir (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) rounded out the scoring with a 95.
