Scott Kushner begins his first season as the new Head Baseball Coach of the Centenary College Cyclones. Kushner, has made the move to Centenary from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, where he was the Head Baseball Coach for the last two years and the Director of Physical Fitness in 2007. While at the Academy he handled all the baseball operations and over his two year tenure was able to improve the program’s output in nearly every statistical category. On the fitness side, Kushner oversaw the Physical Fitness Assessments (PFA) for the entire regiment of Midshipmen, which totaled nearly 1,000 students. Prior to his pair of seasons at Kings Point, Kushner was an Assistant/Interim Head Coach at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, from 2003-2006. He again was involved with their institutions Strength and Conditioning program as the Director of that specialized area from 05-06. Before his coaching career, Coach Kushner was a four year starting centerfielder for Swarthmore College (99-02). During his playing days he was chosen as a two-year captain, the Hustle Award Winner (’99), a Two-time Dick Hall Award Winner (’01-’02), an All-Centennial Conference selection (’01-’02), and finished his career among the Top 10 in numerous statistical category’s on Swarthmore’s All-Time list. Following graduation, Kushner went on to play in the North American Baseball Association Semi-pro and Delaware County Semi-pro Baseball Leagues. He also holds a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Sociology from Swarthmore (’02) and a Master’s Degree in Sports Management from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst (’04).
Brett Stout joins the Centenary College Baseball program this year, along with first Head Coach Scott Kushner. Coach Stout comes to Centenary following a four-year playing career at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. With the Greyhounds, Stout won four Varsity letters while playing primarily as a middle infielder, although seeing time at shortstop and third base, as well as a utility outfielder. He was the Gus Garcsar Memorial Award Winner in 2006 and the team’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Representative from 2005-2008.
John DiMeglio begins his first season as an Assistant Coach with the Centenary College Baseball program and will serve as the Cyclones' pitching coach. DiMeglio comes to Centenary following one season as an Assistant Coach with Burlington County College where he also worked with the pitching staff. This past summer he served as an Assistant Coach with the Bishop Eustace H.S. American Legion team in Pennsauken as they competed in the elite Camden County League. While living in New York City for several years DiMeglio also gained coaching experience with the Manhattan Brewers, a Semi-Pro RBI Organization.
