What is Prior Learning Assessment?

The Prior Learning Assessment Program (PLA) allows you to receive college credit for your life experiences! Centenary College knows that the knowledge you’ve gained outside the classroom is valuable and it is important that this knowledge be recognized.  Therefore, Centenary has partnered with LearningCounts, an organization that evaluates your prior experience and awards you comparable college credit.

Through LearningCounts.org, individuals will prepare a portfolio that documents their learning experiences. These portfolios will then be evaluated by an expert faculty member to determine college level credits. PLA can be an important part of your degree completion plan.

Student eligibility requirements:

  • Students must transfer PLA credit prior to starting his/her last eight (8) credits at Centenary College or before entering his/her final semester of study, whichever comes first.
  • PLA adheres to the Centenary College transfer credit guidelines.  Please speak to your advisor for more detail.
