First, come prepared and on time Second, be prepared to tell your tutor exactly what you need help with. (i.e. proofread a paper, explanation of a course concept, help studying for a test, help with a homework assignment, etc.) Third, be receptive to learning!
If I miss a class, can I come to a tutoring session to get caught up?
Ideally students should not miss class. But if for some reason an absence is necessary, students should do the following: First, speak to their professor to see what assignments and/or information they have missed for that class. Next, students should ask a classmate for their notes from the class that was missed. Then, students can come to tutoring for reinforcement of any missed class material.
What if I do not know anyone in the class to ask for their notes?
The first week of class you should find a classmate to exchange emails and/or phone numbers with. This will help you to meet new people as well as help you obtain any notes or assignments you miss in the event of an absence.
When should I start going to tutoring?
Tutoring is offered all semester, beginning the very first week of classes. Make tutoring a part of your weekly studying habit.
