Centenary Calendar of Public Events for the Month of March 2010.

March 5, 2010 – Little Kids Rock Benefit Concert. Time: 7 p.m. Location: George H. Whitney Chapel. Cost: $2.  Benefit concert with numerous bands and raffles.  Open to guests with photo ID and signed in under a Centenary student.  For more information, call 732-674-2497.

Until March 7, 2010 – Centenary Stage Company Presents “Loose Knit.” Time: varies. Location: The Little Theatre, Edward W. Seay Administration Building. Cost: $17.50 - $22.50.  Once a week, five women gather to knit.  As the sweaters pile up, their lives fall apart.  Can the women pick up all the dropped stitches and knit their friendships back together again?  For more information, please call 908-979-0900.

March 9, 2010 – Gates-Ferry Lecturer Mark Doty, Acclaimed Poet, Memoirist and Teacher, Will Conduct Reading of Recent Work with Author Tiphanie Yanique. Time: 8 p.m. Location: The Little Theatre, Edward W. Seay Administration Building.  Cost: Free.  Mark Doty, Centenary College’s 2009-2010 Gates-Ferry Distinguished Visiting Lecturer and winner of the 2008 National Book Award, will return for a reading of his recent work.  Tiphanie Yanique, author of How to Escape from a Leper Colony, will also be reading.  After the reading, there will be a short audience Q & A.  A reception and book signing will follow in the Front Parlours of the Edward W. March 10, 2010 – “One Day the World Will Break Your Heart? The Irish in America” Time: 7 p.m. Location: The Front Parlours, Edward W. Seay Administration Building. March 12 – 13, 2010 – Mini-Blues Festival.  Time: 6:30 p.m. – 10 p.m.  Location: George H. Whitney Chapel. March 24, 2010 – The New York Times Bestselling Authors of The Nanny Diaries to Speak and Conduct Book Signing at Centenary College. Time: 7 p.m. Location: George H. Whitney Chapel, Centenary College. March is Women’s History Month and the Northwest New Jersey Regional Women’s Center will be hosting their annual Women’s History Month Event: Celebration of NJ Women Authors.  The event starts at 10 a.m. with women authors talking about publishing, how to get started and the art of writing.  After lunch, keynote speaker, Alison Larkin, comedienne and author of The English American, a Novel will speak about her experiences.
